US filmmaker Lori Joyce is having considerable festival success with Arise, an environmental documentary she made with Candice Orlando and Molly Ross. Narrated by Darryl Hannah, the film features women around the world who have dedicated their lives to healing injustices against the earth.

WIFT Vic member and 3CR broadcaster Melinda O’Connor, caught up with Lori Joyce ahead of the film’s recent Australian premiere.

Last Days of Chez Nous screening and Q&A with Jan Chapman

WIFT (Vic) is co-hosting a special screening of Gillian Armstrong’s 1992 film The Last Days of Chez Nous on Saturday June 30 at 4pm at ACMI in Melbourne’s Federation Square. Produced by Jan Chapman and written by Helen Garner, The Last Days of Chez Nous features stellar performances from Lisa Harrow, Kerry Fox and Miranda Otto and was nominated for 11 AFI awards.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with award-winning producer Jan Chapman, whose other films include The Piano, Love Serenade, Lantana and Bright Star.
